Change Your Color Palette. Change Your Perspective.
Dunn Edwards thoughtfully selected their 2022 Color of the Year to emphasize their desire to hit the refresh button for the collective “us”. There’s something about our emergence from quarantine, with our renewed sense of awe for nature and a need for human connection, that inspired the Dunn Edwards color choice this year. They felt these influences and think the color Art and Craft perfectly represents our human connection to the earth and each other.
Inspiration from the 2022 color of the year, from an interior designer’s perspective, is not just the color itself (because let’s face it, the color is BROWN, for Pete’s sake). The clever part is to let brown be the base in an interior design palette, to evoke feelings of comfort, coziness, calmness, welcoming and warmth, which is a lovely place to start. It’s all about how a room makes you feel, after all. The exciting part of an interior design is in the beautiful combinations that can be made with Art and Craft, some of which are shown below:

Refresh Your Color Perspective
Are you ready to hit the refresh button on your perspective? If you make a change to your interior design, it could be just the thing to get you started on that shift in perspective. We have found that if you make a list of adjectives for how you would like to feel in your home, it leads to the design that is tailored for you. What adjectives would you use to describe how the photo below makes you feel? We like these: calm, uncluttered, clean, balanced, harmonious…all good emotions to feel after emerging from a pandemic. What adjectives would you like to feel in your home?

Dunn Edwards gave a voice to their color of the year, and it says: “I am the past. And the promise of a new future. Look inside. Find the universe in the details and make your mark on this world. I’ll be here. Just as I always have.” –Art and Craft (DET682).
